School Closings & Emergencies
Families will receive notice via call or text if there is an Emergency School Closing. No extra-curricular activities will be held when school has been canceled unless special permission has been granted from the building administrator.
Emergency Evacuations and Drills
Our schools will practice emergency evacuation and response drills on a regular basis and will work to maintain or update our emergency response plan on an annual basis. This will include response to threats of fire, tornado, bomb and intruder.
Inclement Weather Procedures
In the case of severe inclement weather or other emergency situations, the District will notify individuals through an automated messaging system and through media outlets.
We request that you use Family Access to update your Skylert/School Messenger information in order to obtain this important information. Please contact the appropriate building office for assistance.
In addition, the district will contact local TV and radio outlets to assist in disseminating the information. This includes TV stations: WBAY (Channel 2), WFRV (Channel 5), WLUK (Channel 11), and WGBA (Channel 26) out of Green Bay. Local radio stations that will be contacted include WMAM (AM 570), WLST (FM 95.1), WSFQ (FM 96.3), WHYB (FM 103.7), and WAGN (AM 1340).
When deciding to cancel or delay school due to inclement weather consideration will be given to the present local weather conditions along with the most recent weather forecast. Conditions in different areas of the District may vary greatly. We have no way of knowing which roads are plowed or unplowed. If you are in a location of unplowed roads, you may wish to have your children walk out to a main road to board the bus, if this is a reasonable distance. A few unplowed roads in the rural areas do not always warrant a school cancellation. If weather conditions and road conditions are reasonably questionable to you as a parent you may choose to keep your child(ren) home and the District will honor the absence as “excused” with a written note/phone call from a parent.
Working parents should have plans for childcare if the need should arise to cancel school all day. Arrangements should also be made so that no children are locked out of their home if an early cancellation is necessary. If you have any questions please regarding this matter, please feel free to contact the schools or the District Office.
